Dr. Jagath examining a patient at the slit lamp

At The Optician, the shop and the clinic share one roof. Get your eyes checked, your questions answered and your glasses made by the same team who have been looking after Colombo's eyes since 1990.

One visit. Every kind of eye care.

Your First Visit
A prescription you can actually live with.

Eye Consultation

Good vision starts with being listened to. We test your sight for distance, near and reading, and we take the time to understand how you work, drive, read and rest, so the prescription we write you suits your real days, not just a chart on the wall.

Complimentary when you purchase frames or lenses on the same visit.

Some eye conditions are quiet. We help you catch them early.

Medical Screening

Raised eye pressure, glaucoma risk, diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy can develop without any obvious warning. Our team screens for these and explains what we find in plain language. It is a screening conversation, not a hospital work-up. If something needs a closer look, our eye surgeon's service is available whenever it is required.

Comfortable lenses begin with a proper fit.

Contact Lens Clinic

Whether you need daily, monthly or multifocal lenses, or want to try coloured lenses, we fit them with care. We guide you through insertion, removal and everyday hygiene, and we try the lens on your eye before it leaves the shop. Coloured lenses are never sold as a fashion item without a fitting.

From the right frame to the next step

Dispensing & Surgical Care

Choosing a frame is only half the story. Our dispensing team helps you find frames from a wide range of brands that suit your prescription, your face and your budget, and our laboratory technicians craft your lenses and finish your glasses. Adjustments and aftercare are part of the service. And if your eyes need more than spectacles, our eye surgeon's service is there for the next step.

No surprises. This is how your first visit usually goes.

What a first visit looks like

  1. We start by listening.

Tell us about your work, your screen time and your daily routine, and about any diabetes, high blood pressure or family history of glaucoma.

  2. We check how you see.

A refraction for your distance, near and reading vision.

  3. We take a closer look when it's needed.

Where it is appropriate, we check your eye pressure and review the retina.

  4. We give you honest advice.

Spectacles, contact lenses, both, or a surgical opinion if your eyes need one. You will know your options before you decide.

  5. We finish your glasses in our own laboratory.

If you choose a pair, our technicians make it up for you, then fit and adjust it so it sits right.
